Splashing Hands

- Splashing Hands Elbow
- Splashing Hands Advance
Splashing Hands is an “external” system that was developed to produce fighting skills in a very short period of time. Historically it was used to train the monks who had the job of guarding the temple gates. There are no “forms” in this system. The training is focused on combining blocks, punches, and throws in various ways with different footwork. Short sequences of movements are drilled on either side and in various combinations over and over. The training is very demanding.
Basics
The basics of the Splashing Hands system are unique because they are practiced with footwork that can be used for fighting right from the beginning. The basics include punches, blocks, and kicks which are combined with shuffles and closing the gap footwork.
10 Browns
After the basics are mastered the student moves on to learning the 10 Browns. These are really short combinations of movements that are very applicable. These short forms are drilled in endless combinations and in combinations with the basics.
10 Advances
After the basics and the 10 Browns are mastered, the student progresses on to learn the 10 Advances. These are also short series of combinations like the Browns but introduce more advanced footwork, combinations, and more throwing techniques.
